Are you looking for a chemical-free way to remove your nail polish? Check out this cheap and easy all-natural nail polish remover hack below.

How do you remove your nail polish?

Typically, there are so many chemicals in your basic nail polish remover, such as acetone, toluene, and ethyl acetate.

Typical polish removers are terrible for your lungs and hormones, plus they aren’t even ideal for nail health. And I don’t know about you, but I get headaches going into nail salons from all the chemicals.

Let’s be honest, some low-tox nail polish removers aren’t all that great. After searching and searching I realized I had the solution right on my counter. While it does take a bit more elbow grease than usual, it’s so worth it to have peace of mind knowing no extra toxins are going on my body!

How-to

It’s super easy to use lemongrass essential oil in place of acetone to remove nail polish. Use it just like you would regular nail polish remover, and try holding the cotton pad on the nail for about 10 seconds before scrubbing.

Where to buy

I only recommend using Young Living essential oils because they are 100% pure. Other brands use synthetic fillers or other chemicals we’re trying to avoid (and I wouldn’t put that on my skin).

  • I have to remember this when pedicure season begins. I always have a bottle of lemongrass in my laundry room to add to the dryer balls. But I love the idea of replacing damaging nail polish removers with lemongrass. Not to mention is smells so much better than the noxious fumes from commercial removers.

    • Yes! I love lemongrass in the dryer!! Sooo much better than dryer sheets. Definitely give it a try during your next pedicure.
