↡ start your low-tox journey w/ me

motivation can be helpful to start a healthy routi motivation can be helpful to start a healthy routine. you might have been excited to start “eating clean” this January, or to start going to the gym every day. but the longer it’s been, the faster your motivation fades. the excitement just isn’t there anymore.

👉🏼and this is where HABITS come into play. we can rely on habits when our motivation and excitement for new things are gone.

i’m currently in the 3rd month of ACL rehab, which if you don’t know is usually around 9 months-1 year of rehab😅 so day in and day out, i’m working on the knee. honestly, my motivation wavers most days. i have to wake up at 5:15am (!!) monday-friday to go to rehab, and even this morning i just about turned off my alarm. but its a habit now, i get up, head to rehab, and i’m done and home by 8am. i know my knee will not get where i want if i sleep in and don’t put in the work.

you can’t rely on motivation. forming healthy habits in different areas of your life will get you where you truly want to be! ex: packing overnight oats so its ready in the morning, setting aside an hour to workout every other day, doing your skincare routine as a non-negotiable, praying before your head hits the pillow. all these things will become second nature over time

do it for yourself. do it for the future you are dreaming of, this is how you get there🤍
having an “off” day/weekend of eating will NOT having an “off” day/weekend of eating will NOT ruin your progress & goals !!

life is alllll about balance & flexibility — which, full disclaimer, i definitely struggle with.

i’m staying with my grandparents this weekend and don’t have my regular kitchen with full control over what i eat.

yesterday for lunch i had a pb&j with skippy peanut butter and smuckers jelly. yeah, they’re full of unnecessary sugars, artificial flavors, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup. do i love those ingredients? heck no! but eating them for one meal won’t discount all the nutrients i eat on a daily basis. ONE meal won’t be the end because my nutrition base is strong.

later we had a delicious dinner! some sausage, potatoes, corn, & veggies!!! i love all the color from the different bell peppers & they tasted so fresh!

as a college athlete i find it difficult to release control over my workouts and meals, and this weekend was tough at first. i’m not “working out” for a full 3 days (but🏊🏼‍♀️) and ingredients are not up to me. remember, single meals or little trips will not destroy all your efforts. have fun & enjoy🌞
HYDRATION💦 staying hydrated will keep your body HYDRATION💦
staying hydrated will keep your body functioning optimally! it helps your skin look brighter & leads to smooth digestion. last week i played a game in 117° heat🥵and drank water & electrolytes like crazyyyy
•
if you’re training or playing in a game, try a drink with electrolytes (tip: look for more sodium than potassium). gatorade is a good start for quick carbs & electrolytes, but i don’t really recommend due to the artificial ingredients and colors🤕if you have a better brand comment below👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

tag a friend or send this to someone who could use a hydration reminder !!!

there are SO many aspects to overall health just there are SO many aspects to overall health

just because you eat “perfectly” or workout everyday doesn’t mean your health is optimal! there are times when we might need to push our health to the side, but normally we should strive to take care of ourselves and find balance in each of these aspects(but not limited to):

-SLEEP: 7-9 hours per night is what most bodies need to recover and rejuvenate properly…5 hours ain’t cutting it sis, especially if you need coffee to function

-NUTRITION: while it’s okay to eat sweets and fried foods, we need to regularly fuel our bodies properly to honor it

-STRESS: includes stress from work, school, and even stress put on your body from toxic products. easier said than done, but try to lower your stress as much as possible by taking self care nights and using natural products in your home and on your body

-MOVEMENT: exercise shouldn’t be punishment! play a sport, go for a walk, or dance in the morning. just moving your body can ease aches and improve your mood!

-SOCIAL: we are social creatures and need human connection whether we like to admit it or not (lol me). go grab lunch with a friend or head out to the beach with your fam!

what aspect of health do you need to work on? let me know in the comments! i could definitely work on my social side, especially after everyone has been apart for soooo long💗
